Surrey: the perfect place for a staycation this summer?
Heard it on the grapevine
Due to its warm climate, Surrey is rapidly becoming a wine lover’s heaven, with a huge variety to choose from where you can visit and enjoy tastings. Denbies, Albury Organic Vineyard and Hambledon Vineyard are all popular tour destinations – but you might want to book a taxi for the journey home!
Cooking up a storm
Taking in a staggering variety of cookery courses using delicious locally sourced produce, Abinger Cookery School has any course for the aspiring foodie, to the more experienced cook. You can even book to stay bed and breakfast at the school itself; ideal.
Messing about on the river
Why not de-stress with the relaxing pace of canal life? Who, after all, has heard of canal rage? On the Wey Narrowboat Hire offers charming luxury accommodation and enough room to sleep 6 – a perfect family-sized adventure!
There’s even a perfectly named festival
One of Surrey’s prettiest towns (and there are quite a few of them!) is hosting Staycation Live, a community festival full of music, food and arts now bigger and better than ever and back in its 8th year! The festival has brought many great and diverse acts to Godalming over the two stages set in picturesque Phillips Memorial Park and you can expect more of the same this year with an eclectic mix of acts and bands ranging from folk to funk, electro swing to megafolk and ska to hip-hop. Catch it between August 3rd, 4th and 5th.
