Seymours in Burpham has reason to celebrate. After eight years of sponsoring Burpham under 16s the youth team has made it through to the Premier Division.

The team, which currently sits at position two of the league, has gone from strength to strength over recent years having been promoted from division six when it was formed to its current spot.

Richard Stovold, partner at Seymours in Burpham, which has sponsored the team from the outset, comments: “I’m absolutely over the moon to see the team grow, not only in ability but also with regards to the transition from young lads to young men that each of the players have made. In fact, one of the priorities for this season was to kit the team out in a new, adult-size strip, as they had all outgrown the previous one. I have a really good feeling about this season and am confident that they can claim the top spot in no time.”

Burpham played Worplesdon Rangers Hurricanes in the cup competition earlier this month winning 3 – 1 and making it through to the second round. Last weekend the league clash against Halliford Colts saw the lads produce an emphatic 5 - 0 victory, so confidence is high.

Coaches Martin Planes and Bryan Furness have been with the team since 2007. Martin adds: “It’s been a real journey for everyone, from the players and the management to those who’ve supported us along the way, such as Seymours. The team has now found its feet, the players are adapting and maturing well in the Premier Division and winning the title is now a real possibility. Each game gets more exciting the closer we get to the top of the table and without doubt the best is yet to come.”
