The Clink, HMP, High Down
Yes, this is a restaurant in a prison. Established in 2015, The Clink aims to train prisoners in the last six to 18 months of their sentence to improve their employability and risk of offending. Expect friendly service and superb cooking in a slick, contemporary setting.
Within the last few years, several other restaurants have been set up in prisons around the country; The Clink has been so successful that it has attracted the involvement of many high-profile chefs (until his recent passing away, Antonio Carluccio was The Clink’s patron) and has also won awards, including the Best Local Menu at the Surrey Life Food Awards. Try it, make a difference, and enjoy some fantastic food into the bargain.

Crazy Bean, Great Bookham
With vegan food trends still on the rise, this fully vegan restaurant is a fabulous addition to Great Bookham’s high street – with tasty dishes enjoyed by both vegans and carnivores alike. All of the food at the café is also directly sourced from the local greengrocer, Layton’s. Expect to see traditional dishes such as lasagne, fajitas and risotto. Be sure to leave a little room for the cake menu!
